Whale-watching, Pacific, school project

i am doing a project for the fifth grade on watching whales in the pacific.
i have a budget of 1 million dollars and i have to document how i am going
to spend it on this project.if you have any sugeestions or any information i
would appreciate it. Thank you.

Your question needs some clarification. Where in the Pacific are you going
to do this work and what do you want to do with the money? Are you trying to
set up a whalewatching business, or are you trying to document the effects
of whalewatching on the animals and the local economy or both?

I recommend that you check some whalewatch websites out and talk to some of
those folks directly to find out what all is entailed in a whale watch
operation. For example, what size boat, etc. Another good group to contact
is the International Fund for Animal Welfare (they have a website); they are
interested in effects of whalewatching on the economies of various areas, as
well as effects on the animals. There are some good reports on the two
latter topics by Erich Hoyt, available thru this group.
