i am ASHOK,G.K from chennai.hope i am not disturbing you.sir i have a small question COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW THE FISHES LIVE DEEP UNDER THE OCEAN UNDER PRESSURE? Not all fish live in the deep parts of the ocean. Many of those that do cannot be brought to the surface because they would expand and die. They are adapted to live with the pressure at depth, but not near the surface where pressure is less. Some animals that must be near the surface to breathe (marine mammals) can dive deep. Among these are some whale species, like the sperm whale and beaked whales. They have special adaptations for dealing with the changes in pressure. One adaptation is a hinged rib cage. As they swim into deep pressures, their internal organs -- particularly the lungs -- are compressed. Rather than have their ribs snap with the pressure, the rib cage compresses due to the ability of the ribs to bend at the hinge where two parts of the ribs come together.
