Scientists are none too sure why whole groups of whales come ashore all
at once. In at least some cases, it seems that they might have been
chasing food and gotten caught by the falling tide. But this is not the
case for all mass strandings. One thing is almost certain, that global
warming is not a cause. The reason why we suspect that this is true, is
that strandings have been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years,
and any changes in climate has not seemed to have changed the number of
strandings.
So I am not sure who wins this bet....
