Whales are certainly primarily endothermic - ie warm-blooded organisms
that generate heat to maintain their body temperature. But they can be
exothermic in the sense that they release heat when they get too hot so as
to maintain body temperature. THe dorsal fin and other extremities, for
example, provide extra surface area for releasing heat.
