Dear Sara,
That question has already been answered right here on Whalenet several
times.
Please use the search function and search for "all whale species". A google
search for "new whale species" will give you the latest information.
You are most welcome,
Dr T Ford

Dear Dr. Ford,
My name is Sara and I am in the 3rd grade. Our Class is studying whales. I
have
been reading and learning lots of interesting facts about whales. I have
learned that there are
about 82 species of whales including dolphins. Eleven of these 82 or so
species
are Baleen whales and there are some 71 if not more species of toothed
whales.
I am looking for a web site that actually lists all of these whales by name/
species.
I know you must be a very busy scientist and I do not want to take up your
valuable
time making me a list of all the types of whales. But if you could direct me
to a web
site or sites that give a list then I will be able to learn something about
each different
type of whale.
Also.. I would like to know what you personally find most fascinating about
whales.
Thank you for your help,
Sincerely,
Sara Murray
