    Dear Heather ,

Whales in their present form cannot live on land. However a few million
years ago they did live on land.

Fossil whales have been found that had rear legs and fully formed rib cages.
Whales started out as land animals and adapted their bodies to become fully
    aquatic.

    Is this enough information ?

    regards ,
