There are actually four species of hammerhead sharks in North America.
The biggest is the Scalloped Hammerhead which can reach up to 13 feet,
nine inches. My reference book, the Audubon Society Field Guide to North
American Fishes, Whales and Dolphins does not give a weight. I would
imagine they might reach weights as much as 1,000 pounds.
