Dear Kim,> I am a student and concerned citizen doing a research
project on the status of the pilot whale (long and short finned). I was
wondering if any of your research involved pilots and what
literature/reports may have been done. I was also wondering if anyone
there is a pilot expert or could refer me to those doing current research
on pilots.

Dear Lorena,
WCI's research does not include pilot whale studies at this time but I can
suggest searching WhaleNet's resource pages for publications about pilot
whales. This page can be found at
http://whale.wheelock.edu/whalenet-stuff/ed_resources.html#biblio plus you
might discover a link to a pilot whale specialist via WhaleNet as well.
As for a specialist studying pilot whales, I am going to suggest contacting
Joanna Bond who works with Dr. Amos at Cambridge University in the UK. I
believe Dr. Amos completed a genetic study of pilot whales that pass by the
Farrow Islands. Joanna's email address is jb@mole.bio.cam.ac.uk.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Good luck! Kim
