The smallest baleen whale is the, appropriately named, pygmy right whale
that ranges from 5 to 6.4 meters in length. For toothed whales it is more
complicated to make a similar assertion since there are several very
similar in size and with a range of variation. They include the vaquita
from the Gulf of California in Mexico with a size that ranges from 1.2 to
1.5 meters, the Heaviside's dolphin in the coastal waters of southwestern
Africa and the Hector's dolphin in the coastal waters around New Zealand,
both with a length that ranges from 1.2 to 1.4 meters, and the Commerson's
dolphin of the southern hemisphere ranges in size from 1.3 to 1.4 meters.

Best wishes,
