This isn't something I know an awful lot about, but I'll try to get you
started.  Finback whales may also turn onto their right side when feedng,
hence, the right jaw/baleen on the right side.
Scuffing, or scraping on the sides of humpback whale faces seems to be mostly
on the right side.  This is something we have been noticing for many years.

I wish I could be more help.  I'll try to get the e-mail addresses of experts
who may be able to help you, especially with the questions you asked re:
dolphin behavior and morphology.
