Hi and thank you for writing.
On our whale watching trips we see mostly humpback, finback and minke whales,
and Atlantic white-sided dolphins. Humpback whales are probably the most
"curious" about boats. None are unfriendly, but some ytpes just seem more
interested in boats.
A young whale that loses its mother is on its own. Females that are nursing
a calf already are the ones that would have a supply of milk, but they have
just enough for their calf. The quicker a young whale can fend for itself,
the better its chances of survival.
If hydrophones can be used, we may hear sounds being produced by large whales
and dolphins.
