I have two questions I would like you to answer:
(1). How can I test my water to see if it is good or bad?
(2). How can I test a Fish for PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyls)? a..

Wayne,
These are two questions that you would need to take to a university or a
government agency that deals with pollution. Right away, the Environmental
Protection Agency comes to mind, or a state government agency could help. For
the first part of your question, you should go to someone who does water
testing. Since I don't know where you live, I can't really suggest who's
appropriate, but perhaps calling the water plant in your area is a start.
In regards to testing fish for PCBs, I have to tell you that you need to figure
out who in your area is responsible for fish health (do you have a local fish
and game dept in your area? That might be a good start). To test for PCBs takes
a lot of scientific equipment and know-how, and unfortunately for both of us
right now, I don't know exactly how to answer your question. Another avenue for
you to go is to call a university in the area that has marine biologists or fish
biologists. Many marine biologists have areas of expertise and are trained
specifically to handle specific tasks. Since I'm a whale/dolphin biologist, and
my expertise is behavioral ecology, I really can't answer physiological or
contaminant type questions as well. But, I wish you luck in finding out the
answers to your questions, and I'm glad to see that you're concerned about the
environment that is around you!
