Dagmar,
I forgot a question:
its tail?
Sue Shirley
************
Dan and Emily,
It is not bones that make animals move, but muscles. The tail flukes are
powered by two muscle masses, one which is in the upper region of the tail
stock (the thick area of the body right before the tail itself...the caudal
peduncle) and another muscle mass in the lower part of the tail stock.
These muscles make the tail very powerful on the dolphin, which is why I
tell people to be very careful around the tail of a dolphin.
Hope this answers your question.
Dagmar
