Sperm whale stranding on Romo Island III

Probably being only the third sperm whale to have been recorded from the
North Sea in the month of June a rare "off-season" stranding of a 14 m male
happened 1 June 2000. The incident took place north of Lakolk on the Danish
island of Romo, at almost the same locality that witnessed two mass
strandings in March 1996 and December 1997, respectively.

The skeleton of the specimen will be prepaired and standard sample for
scientific analyses will be taken. For further information please contact:
