Environment Australia, the Australian Federal Department of the
Environment, has released for comment draft guidelines for interactions
between offshore seismic operations and whales. The guidelines can be
found at:

The purpose of these Guidelines is to assist proponents of offshore
seismic operations address certain of their obligations under the
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 relevant
to interactions with whales or large cetaceans.

Public comments are requested by 30 June and should be addressed to
Tony Bigwood, Director, Marine Species Section, Environment Australia.
Written comments should be sent to Mr Bigwood c/o the address listed
below and email comments to tony.bigwood@ea.gov.au
