Subject: Humpback on SE Stellwagen


The Center for Coastal Studies called to report a humpback entangled on SE
Stellwagen Bank early yesterday evening.  It was too late to do a
disentanglement, so CCS headed out to try to locate the whale and attach a
transmitter to the gear.  Unfortunately, fog rolled in and curtailed the search.
 Apparently the whale was mobile but staying in an area where a lot of humpbacks
were sighted yesterday.  There should be a lot of whale watch activity, so
hopefully the entangled whale will be spotted some time when the fog lifts.
