Subject: Stormwater Runoff From Airports (fwd)

Miami Dade County plans to develop a large commercial international
airport, almost the size of New York's JFK, within the proverbial
"stone's throw" of Biscayne National Park, Everglades National Park and
the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

The South Florida Water Mangement District attemped to issue stormwater
permit that would have allowed the stormwater, with some treatment, to
be dischared into Biscayne National Park -- Sierra Club legally
challenged the permit. There will be a hearing sometime next year and I
am looking for studies relating to airport stormwater's effect on marine
mammals. The studies will be added to the public record for the ongoing
Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on Miami Dade County's
airport plans. I was unable to find any publications, current scientific
papers or reports at the University of Miami library.
