I saw an article in the recent "Scientific Computing and
Instrumentation" issue (Sept 1999) by R. Oxenford "New data analysis
techniques help galvanize whale conservation", pp. 12-19. The article
talks about Hal Whitehead's lab using MATLAB and SOCPROG and also has
two nice bottlenose whale photos accompanying the issue.
The article may also be found on the web at:

If you do not have web access and are interested in a copy, you can
send me an email, and I can provide a copy to you upon request. As a
courtesy, *please* make sure you really want a copy of the article and
don't have web access before making the request. Be sure to provide a
snail mail address.
Sincerely,
