In the North Atlantic where there are an estimated 2,000-3,000 blue whales
which inhabit areas around the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There are also
populations which occur in the North Pacific and the Sea of Cortez which
numbers around 1,200-1,700 and in the southern hemisphere, numbering around
9,000. That leaves a total world popluation of only 12,000 to maybe 15,000.
