Subject: location data seal, "PoeGo","Jersey"and "Bristol"

Mike et al,

A bit of catching up to do and some strange doings.

"Bristol"

Newest tagged seal (harbor seal pup).  So far we have been getting only a
few locations (about one per day).  It is not unusual to have relatively
few messages for the first few days after release.  Also in this location
satellite coverage is not as good as further north.  Weather can also cause
us to get fewer signals if the sea state is choppy enough to block signals.
 Enough excuses.  It looks like Bristol is still keeping close to shore and
has moved southwest along the south coast of the Cape and is near
Osterville (and may have moved into one of the marshes near that area...).
Hopefully more in the next few days...

"PoeGo"

"PoeGo" has continued in the same general location (perhaps a bit south and
east) and has moved into slightly deeper water.  His dive pattern still
shows more deep diving and is quite consistent.  It appears he has found a
place he likes (for now).

Jersey,

Well...after heading into the center of the Gulf of Maine, the question was
would "Jersey" go to the right, around Nova Scotia, or left into the Bay of
Fundy.  The answer is left...sharp left as a matter of fact.  Her latest
location puts her 10-15 miles off the coast of mid-coast Maine.  This puts
her into much shallower water than the past few days.  Because the accuracy
of the last few locations is questionable, it might take another day or so
to see if this is in fact what is going on.  We will be checking her dive
data over the next few days to see if we can get an idea of what is going
on.
