White Sided Dolphin
White-sided Dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus) was tagged and released by researchers with the New England Aquarium and the Cape Cod Stranding Network.
On Sunday, 4-17, CCSN and NEAq responded to 6 white-sided dolphins stranded in the mud flats at Skaket Beach in Orleans. The group consisted of 4 adult males, an adult female and a calf. All were found alive and in decent condition. We assessed the animals and transported them by truck to Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. All 6 animals were released - and a SPLASH tag was attached to one of the adult males.
