12/19/00 - The MA/Division of Marine Fisheries (MA/DMF) and the Center for Coastal Studies(CCS) conducted the initial aerial survey of Cape Cod Bay for the 2000/2001 season. 5 right whales were sighted south of Provincetown.

11/18/00 - A fishing vessel reported sighting a single adult right whale approximately 22 miles east/southeast of Rudee Inlet, VA. This whale was heading south at a very slow speed when observed. Mariners should take necessary precautions in the area off Chesapeake Bay.

10/26/00 - A whale watch vessel reported sighting 1 right whale on the southern part of Stellwagen below the Boston Traffic Lanes.

10/24/00 - A whale watch vessel reported sighting 2 right whales on the southern part of Stellwagen near the Boston Traffic Lanes.

10/17/00 - A whale watch vessel reported sighting a single adult right whale off Race Point off Provincetown in Cape Cod Bay.

PLEASE NOTE: A single right whale(adult) was sighted 4.5 n.miles due east of the Ocean City Inlet off Maryland on Sunday, 15 October, during a flight to re-locate an entangled humpback whale.

A Navy vessel reported sighting 1 confirmed right whale in the Great South Channel proximal to the inbound Boston Traffic Lane with 2-3 possible additional right whales in the same area. Previously today, a whale watch vessel reported sighting a single right whale in Cape Cod Bay off Race Point, Provincetown. TOTAL RWs for day: 2
