One right whale was sighted today off Provincetown, Center for Coastal Studies staff who were out on their vessel doing humpback whale research reported the sighting. The right whale was heading into Cape Cod Bay and is the first reported for the 1997/1998 season.

If the whale is observed entangled, please call (800) 900-3622 or beeper (508)803-0204 and standby whale.

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
