REPORT:
12/29/98 - The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) reportedsighting an additional two right whales 3 to 4 miles east of the Cape Cod Canal yesterday. One of the two additional right whales was a juvinile (25-30 ft.) and had a severed left side fluke.
12/28/98 - The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) reported one right whale sighted while conducting a survey in Cape Cod Bay today. The right whale was sighted in the vicinity of Barnstable Harbor.
12/27/98 - The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) conducted an aerial survey in Cape Cod Bay today. Tracklines were from east to west at 2 mile intervals from Sandy Neck Beach to Provincetown. Three right whales were sighted. One right whale was sighted off Sagamore Beach and two right whales were sighted in the vicinity of Barnstable Harbor.
12/19/98 - The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) reported sighting two right whales in Cape Cod Bay north of Barnstable Harbor today. The whales were taking 15 minute dives. CCS transited the Bay while returning their research vessel from the shipyard.
12/15/98 - The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) reported sighting a single right whale in the outer harbor of Provincetown this afternoon. The sighting was made from one of the CCS offices.
12/14/98 - The Center for coastal Studies and MA DMF flew 15 tracklines inside Cape Cod Bay and had 5 right whale sightings. Four of the 5 right whales were observed skim feeding.
12/10/98 - The Center for Coastal Studies received a report of 1 probable right whale skim feeding east of Provincetown, off High Head.
12/02/98 - The Coast Guard reported sighting two right whales (a possible mother and calf) off Parramore Island, VA today.
