The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) vessels partially completed tracklines 5-8. All 15 tracklines were flown by the NEA. Both platforms observed right whales. Additionally, NEA and WHOI researchers reported right whale sightings from their research trip today. A total of 8 right whales were sighted; however, there may be some duplication of sightings from the multiple platforms.
CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
