NOAA/NMFS Right Whale Survey

REPORT:

The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) and MA DMF flew 14 tracklines in Cape Cod Bay today and another survey line about 2 miles off the beach from Chatham to Provincetown. Woods Hole Oceanpgraphic Institution (WHOI) researchers aboard the R/V Hannah T were also working on right whales in the Bay. A total of 19 right whales were observed by the two groups.

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
