NOAA/NMFS Right Whale Survey
23 February, 1998 19:46 EST
The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) and MA DMF flew 15 tracklines in Cape Cod Bay today and another survey line about 2 miles off the beach from Chatham to Provincetown. The CCS R/V Shearwater was also in the Bay conducting a habitat study. A total of 15 right whales were sighted; however, there may be duplicate sightings between the plane and vessel. NMFS/CG flew 3 lines of a northern section of the shipping lanes from the northwest end to Chatham before the trip was aborted due to a mechanical problem.
