NOAA/NMFS Right Whale Survey

REPORT:

NMFS flew 6 tracklines in the northern part of the Great South Channel and had 1 right whale sighting. The Center for Coastal Studies and MA/DMF flew 14 tracklines in Cape Cod Bay and another line from Chatham to provincetown about 2 miles off the beach. The International Wildlife Coalition contributed right whale sightings and tagged 1 right whale in the Bay. 16 right whales were observed in the Bay. Total for the day: 17

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
