NOAA/NMFS Right Whale Survey
22 April, 1998


REPORT:

17:31 EST - The Center for Coastal Studies conductes a habitat survey on their R/V in cape Cod Bay. the International Wildlife Coalition was conducting tagging research in the Bay. One right whale was sighted by the two platforms in the Bay. The NMFS completed four tracklines in the southern portion of the Great South Channel survey area. Seven right whales were sighted. Total right whales (all areas): 8.
23:46 EST - The Coast Guard reported a single right whale sighted opportunistically by one of their cutters this morning.

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
