NOAA/NMFS Right Whale Survey

REPORT:

The NMFS flew 4 tracklines in the northern section of the Great South Channel today. Two right whales (a mother and calf pair) were sighted. NMFS had a second plane surveying the jeffrey's Ledge and platts Bank areas. No right whales were sighted. The center for Coastal Studies & MA DMF flew tracklines from south of nantucket to Block island. No right whales were sighted. Total for day: 2.

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
