"Mac" (97-63), Satellite Tag # 1657On May 7, 1997 "Arthur" (97-56) stranded in Redondo Beach, California. This animal is less than one year old. He weighed 41.7 Kg (92 pounds) and was 1.30m (51 inches) in length. He underwent antibiotic therapy for pneumonia and additional treatment for parasitic infestations.
At the time of tagging and release in July, 1997 he had grown to over 69 Kg (152 pounds) and 1.47m (58 inches). Arthur (97-56) was given the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) roto-tag number 3709.
On June 3, 1997, "Mac" (97-63) stranded in Malibu, California at the Ventura County line. He weighed 68Kg (150 pounds) and was 1.9m (75 inches) in length. "Mac" is over one year old and became weak during a difficult molt. He had a heavy parasitic infestation and was treated for this as well as an abnormal skin condition.
At the time of tagging and release in July, 1997 he had grown to over 93 Kg (205 pounds). Mac (97-63) was given the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) roto-tag number 3702.
