These WhaleNet affiliated whale watch companies either have a Public Information Display (PID) in the main cabin for access to location, speed, and depth data, or they will allow a student in the pilot house to record the data. They distribute information about WhaleNet, send a WhaleNet Teacher Information Packet to participating schools, and CONTRIBUTE at least one data sheet each week for educational use on WhaleNet.
When you make a reservation with ANY whale watch company, make sure that you will have access to the data collection equipment and electronics BEFORE you make your final plans, and ask what type of educational activities they have available on board. (Identify your sightings with the Humpback identification software from WhaleNet, and check recent humpback sightings)
Be sure that your choice of whale watch companies follows the NOAA Whale Watch Guidelines.

Cabrillo Aquarium's Baja Trip to Meet the Friendly WhalesJoin Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA), March 6 through March 14, 2011, for a trip that truly is the Journey-of-a-Lifetime, especially for animal fans! Pacific gray whales return to San Ignacio Lagoon each year to mate and give birth. During this nine-day excursion we will spend three exciting days anchored in San Ignacio Lagoon where friendly gray whales and their curious calves swim within arm's length of the skiffs.
The trip also includes naturalist-led visits to uninhabited desert islands where passengers will have the chance to see a wide variety of birds, elephant seals, Guadalupe fur seals, unique habitats, and tons of other wildlife.
